Introducing Annelise Ryan. Cecil Plains.

Annelise Ryan, Graduate Agronomist, Cecil Plains. After a few months of working with us, a catchup on why she wanted to pursue a career in ag.

A big welcome to the team Annelise!

Q. Where are you from ?

A. I grew up in Warwick where my family have been locals for generations.

Q. Where did you grow up ?

A. I went to school at Scots PGC in Warwick and studied my university degree at University of Queensland before finishing it off at University of New England. Whilst not coming from a farm, I spent a lot of my spare time in my late teens-early twenties on a cotton and broadacre farm near Moree. It was then I realised I had a keen interest in ag.

Q. What does your typical workday look like ?

A. Driving, talking to growers, out and about checking crops.

Q. What do you enjoy about your role ?

A. I love the diversity of each day and the fact that you get to work closely with farmers to solve problems in the most agronomical and economical way possible. No season is the same, so it keeps you on your toes. You also get to meet some pretty incredible people within the Ag industry.

Q. What do you enjoy about living and working in your town?

A. I like that I live close to my family after being away for several years. Within an hour of town there are so many rich and diverse farming systems at our fingertips.

Q. 3 pieces of advice you would give your younger self?

A. Have confidence, trust your gut and work hard.

Q. Why did you choose to work with McGregor Gourlay ?

A. I chose to work with McGregor Gourlay for their stellar reputation with staff and also their customers. It felt like it was the best environment and choice for my career. I knew the McGregor’s community would support me to be the best Agronomist possible, the staff here are incredible and fantastic at their jobs!
